Understanding Message Delivery Issues on WhatsApp
Overview: Discover the common reasons behind undelivered WhatsApp messages and explore solutions for a smoother messaging experience.
Common Reasons for Undelivered Messages:
Recipient Inactivity:
If the recipient hasn't been online in the last 30 days, messages can't be held longer than that.
Blocking:
You may have been blocked by the recipient.
Country Restrictions:
The recipient might be in a country where message delivery is restricted due to sanctions or regulations.
Technical Issues:
Issues such as invalid request parameters, integrity errors, or the recipient not accepting the latest Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The recipient needs to accept the terms.
Outdated WhatsApp Version:
Ensure the recipient's WhatsApp version meets the following minimums:
Android: 2.21.15.15
SMBA: 2.21.15.15
iOS: 2.21.170.4
SMBI: 2.21.170.4
KaiOS: 2.2130.10
Web: 2.2132.6
Experiment Participation:
The recipient may be part of an experimental group.
Marketing Message Limits:
To ensure quality, there's a limit on the number of marketing messages people can receive.
What You Can Do:
Verify Messaging Capability:
Confirm if the recipient can send messages to your WhatsApp business number.
Check for Blocking:
Have the recipient check their blocked list.
Accept Terms of Service:
Ensure the recipient has accepted the latest terms by directing them to the appropriate settings in their app.
Update WhatsApp:
Encourage the recipient to update their app to the latest version.
Country Restrictions:
Be aware of country-specific restrictions:
Not Eligible for Businesses: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and parts of Ukraine (Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk).
Not Eligible for Receiving Messages: Same as above plus, users in Turkey cannot receive messages sent via the API, although businesses in Turkey can still use the platform.
