  • Display Name Visibility: In chats, contact lists, and chat screens, your business name will appear instead of your phone number, even if the user hasn't saved your contact.

  • Verification Badge: A green checkmark appears beside your business name, indicating that WhatsApp has verified your account as authentic and reputable.


Eligibility and Requirements for OBA Status

Obtaining Official Business Account Status

  • Non-Purchasable Status: OBA status cannot be bought; it is granted by WhatsApp based on specific eligibility criteria.

  • Notability Criteria: Your business must be well-known and frequently searched online. This includes substantial coverage in reputable news outlets and publications. Note that paid or promotional content does not contribute to notability.

  • Specific to Phone Numbers and Display Names: OBA status is linked to particular phone numbers and their corresponding display names. Changing the display name after approval requires reapplying for verification.

Requirements for Applying

To be eligible for OBA status, ensure the following criteria are met:

  1. Two-Factor Authentication Enabled: Activate 2FA for your WhatsApp API number to enhance security.

  2. Quality Rating and Messaging Limit:

    • Achieve Quality Tier 2 status, indicating a high-quality business account.

    • Maintain a high-quality rating at the time of application.

    • Have a minimum messaging limit of 1,000 messages.

  3. Online Presence and Media Coverage: Your business should have a significant online presence, supported by at least five external media coverage links from well-established newspapers, magazines, or other reputable sources.


How to Apply for WhatsApp Green Tick through WooChat

Follow these steps to submit your application for OBA status:

Step 1: Access the Application Section

  • Log in to WooChat: Access your account dashboard.

  • Navigate to WhatsApp Channel: Locate and click on the "Apply Green Tick" section.

  • Initiate Application: Click on the "Apply for Green Tick" button.

Step 2: Redirect to Facebook Business Manager

  • You will be redirected to your Facebook Business Manager account.

  • Navigate to Settings:

    • Go to Account Tools > Phone Numbers.

    • Select Settings for the specific phone number you wish to verify.

Step 3: Provide Required Information

Fill out the following details accurately:

  1. Business Website: Enter your official business website URL.

  2. Reason for Request: Clearly state why your business should receive OBA status.

  3. Supporting Links: Provide up to five links showcasing your business's notability (e.g., news articles, features).

  4. Business Name in Original Language: Input your business name as it appears in your native language.

    • Gather more substantial and reputable media coverage.

    • Ensure continuous compliance with all WhatsApp policies.

  • Reapplication: After enhancing your business's profile, you may reapply following the same process after the 30-day waiting period.

  • Business Profiles without OBA:

    • Regardless of OBA status, all businesses can maintain a detailed business profile for each phone number, including a profile picture, email, website, and business description.

    • These details are fully editable and help in maintaining a professional presence on WhatsApp.

  • Ineligible Accounts for OBA:

    • Employee and Test Accounts: WhatsApp does not grant OBA status to individual employee accounts or test accounts.

    • Business App Users: Accounts using the standard WhatsApp Business App are not eligible for OBA status; this is reserved for users on the UPI Platform who have undergone business verification.
